Earthquake in Pakistan 2021

  An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale was felt across the country late Friday night, particularly in the northern areas of the country. The quake struck at approximately 10:02 pm on Friday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said. The epicenter of the earthquake was reported to be Tajikistan. Specifically, it originated from 38.08N, 73.31E; 256 km southwest of Kashgar, China and 35 km west-southwest of Murghob, Tajikistan. It was reported to have a depth of 80 km. Citizens of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Swat, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Dera Ghazi (DG) Khan and other localities reported feeling the tremors, with aftershocks lasting minutes after the initial earthquake. Large numbers of people fled their homes for safety. So far, no loss of life or property has been reported due to the earthquake. Many people took to Twitter and began sharing verses from the Holy Quran in fear, praying to stay safe.
